So Happy For You

I had a little crafting mojo going last week.  A mysterious thing is that crafting mojo...it ebbs and flows...waxes and wanes! ;)  If I just had someone I could hire to come in and clean up the mess I make when I create I'd probably have more waxing and flowing....it's the prospect of cleaning up the huge mess I've made that prompts the waning and ebbing!

Anyway, I made this card for my son and future daughter in law for their shower yesterday with elements from a Simon Says Stamp kit.  It was inspired by a card by Stephanie Klauck HERE.

I actually heat embossed the background with a Hero Arts background stamp but the image was so subtle that I decided to run it through my Big Shot with the Swiss Dots embossing folder.
I used LifeStyle Craft dies to cut out the circles to frame that oh so cute house and heart metal clip.
S
The little heart was punched with a Martha Stewart punch and "Glossy Accented".
The inside was stamped with some Versafine black onyx ink and heat embossed with some clear embossing powder.  I love doing that....it looks silver here in spots but I think that is just the way the light was hitting it because in real life it was perfectly black and shiny!
Such a fun card to make!

OK, Mojo...where are you???

And Even More Vinyl Fun!

Two of my very dearest friends hosted a couples shower for my son and his bride to be today.  They did such a nice job...the food was great...the company was wonderful...and my son and his fiance' received some very nice gifts for their home.  The wedding date is April 26 so we are getting close!

I decorated a couple of tumblers.  Everyone thought they were cute and great...well, except for my son.  I think he had the "uh, yeah, right" look on his face.  At least he had the good sense to NOT roll his eyes when I was looking his way.  :)  Just kidding...he knew it was all in good fun.

I used Aharoni and Blackjack fonts and some images from the Silhouette online store (the lips and mustache) and cut them in Oracal vinyl 651 which means they can go through the dishwasher if need be.

Here is the couple with their cups:
D'Ann is quite happy with the cup and Jeremy has that look on his face I know so well.  I can "read his bubble"....and it says "Yeah, right!"  We shall see....

I also decorated a package with some lettering which says "to the Mr. and Mrs. To Be".  It's difficult to see in this photo but it's there, I promise you.  I thought I had taken a photograph of it on my table here at home before the shower  but nope...I forgot!  Anyway, it's fun to use your diecut machine to spiff up an otherwise routine package, isn't it?
Well, that's it for now, my friends.....maybe I will actually post a bit more this week!

Rain, Rain, It's OK!

Today here in the metro Atlanta area we have rain.  Not just a little drizzle here or there....but massive amounts of the wet stuff.
It would be a great day for cleaning out a closet (ain't gonna happen).
It would be a great day for cleaning a bathroom (ain't gonna happen).
It would be a great day for some laundry (uh...maybe...).
It would be a great day to read a book (yeah...).
It would be a great day for some paper crafting (OH YEAH!)!

I think that's what I will do.  I want to try my hand at some glass etching.  Sounds fun to me....

But before I get going I do have a few little chores to take care of.  Well, one big one...it's doggie bathing time.  Shhh....don't tell her.  Otherwise she might hide and I won't be able to find her.  LOL!

Here are a few cards I made with some leftover papers from the Simon Says Stamp Card kit for September, 2013.
I enjoyed this kit but using the chalked printed papers was a bit of a challenge for me.  A challenge is always good for the brain, though.
Here are my very simple cards:
The card above had the bicycle printed on the paper already.  I just hand drew and cut some clouds from complimenting papers....and added the little banner on some foam tape.  The kit came with the little banner stencil so it was oh-so-easy to create.  I used my distress tool to scuff up the edges a bit.
This card was just cut and slap on with some adhesive.  I just couldn't throw this paper away....so into a card it was made!
I added the little wood veneer that came with the kit and adhered it with some Glossy Accents.

And lastly...here's another bicycle card.  The kit came with a cute metal bicycle kit that just had to get used!
Again, I just hand cut some clouds and added a "path".

Again, I used the distress tool for the edges.  Fun!

I hope you can join me in a crafty sort of day!

Happy Sunday!

Giving Thanks

I am basically "creation-less" since I've been back from the beach almost a week ago.  My big accomplishment was getting all the STUFF I took with me put back in its place in my studio.  (I like calling it a studio...it sounds so artsy.  I don't usually call it a studio.  I usually just call it my scrapbook room.  BUT...since I do oh-so-much more than just plain old scrapbooking, I think STUDIO is just so way more appropriate! LOL!)  Anyway, I got all my toys put away and am now ready to get going on making some things.

But while I was in Florida I also made this little card with scraps left from a Simon Says Stamp card kit.  Yeah, it's more a card for the Thanksgiving season...but I really think if I put the sentiment inside that said "For You" that it could be a great card to send anyone special to you.  You know?

It's done with mostly Lawn Fawn papers...don't you love the perfectly matched sequins?
This is another great way to use up some fun scraps....

Well, off to take care of some rehearsal dinner stuff.  Have a fun crafty day!

Rehearsal Dinner Invitation

I am back from my 5 week "sabbatical" at the beach. I left here on January 31 and returned on March 6. I rented a house in Laguna Beach, FL, took the dog down and enjoyed being away from the terrible weather in Atlanta during that time. We saw beautiful sunsets like this:
We hiked miles and miles and miles at several fabulous parks.

We saw some cool birds like this huge egret:
and some turkey buzzards as we call 'em in the south...you northerners might call 'em vultures:

I drank wine on the beach (in a plastic cup):
Life was and is very, very good, isn't it?

But back to reality.  And my reality is that my son is getting married in about 7 weeks!  So it is time to get going a bit more on the rehearsal dinner.

Here is the invitation (or one of the zillions of versions) that I have created and once I have a few more details finalized will get printed by Costco.  I saw an invitation online and definitely stole used it for inspiration.  It was a great starting off point for my version.

Sorry but I had to blur out the details because even though I love you all I don't want you showing up! LOL!

What do you think?  Any changes?  Not sure about the background...I'm still playing around with that a bit.

Love You Sew Much

I was cleaning off my table last night and throwing away scraps of paper.  It is difficult for me to get rid of scraps of paper because I might NEED them some day!   I was trashing stuff and the next thing I realized I was sitting at the table and taking said paper scraps and making a card!  LOL...and this is why I don't get rid of scraps often...you can do such cute things with small pieces of paper.

For example the white circle is actually a circle I cut the other day when I did the You're so Tweet card....I just flipped it over and used the smooth surface to stamp "love you sew much".  Most of those scraps were only slightly larger and needed just a bit of trimming.  I had some older chipboard hearts and used some Liquid Pearls to cover them.  The trim was a piece leftover from another project and a Simon Says Stamp card kit from last year sometime.

It felt good to use up these scraps and give them a home on this card:

I added a few Hero Arts gems and voila!...a fun card!

Here is a closeup of those hearts and that cute trim...

Fun...and mostly made with trash.  HAHA!  Not really but made with things that were soon going to become trash!  Sad to think these scraps might have ended up in a land fill somewhere!
