A Little Mojo Has Returned...

Today was one of those days a card came together rather quickly for me!  Here's the finished product:

I used We R Memory Makers printed papers (all with an Easter theme), Coredinations cardstock and for the card base I used some plain old smooth white cardstock.  I stamped a couple of butterflies (Unity Stamps) on printed paper, cut them out and adhered them with foam tape so they'd stand up a bit and look like they are ready to fly off the paper!  The Happy Easter sentiment is a Close To My Heart stamp.I used some mini pompom trim I had picked up at Archiver's which I thought was oh-so-cute and reminds me of bunny tails!  The scalloped circles were punched with Fiskars punches. To add a little sparkle to the butterflies and the sentiment I used a Gelly Roll Glaze pen.  Too bad it doesn't show up well in the picture...
And that is it! Simple but cute, I think!

A Woo Hoo Sort of Day!

I arrived at the tennis courts today for the big match and as luck would have it one of my opponents was younger than either of my children!!!  I hate playing youth....they hit too hard! Wah, wah, wah! And when I met up with my partner, Tressa, she started off by telling me that when she lifted her Golden Retriever (WHAT WAS SHE THINKING???) into her vehicle she sort of threw out her back.  Oh great...I have a gimpy knee and she has a weak back! And we are playing someone bigger, taller, stronger and MUCH YOUNGER!
But luck was on our side today...and we also played really well and AGE (ok, Tressa is young but I'm a grandmother for goodness sakes!) and EXPERIENCE were victorious once again!  WE WON!!!  6-4, 6-3.  And to make matters even better I realized I had played and lost to those same ladies last year.  So what a great day!
So, here's a picture of Tressa and me....

And the 3 fingers up do NOT refer to having played 3 sets (we won in straight sets) or having drunk 3 margaritas (we only each had one, I swear) but are really "W's" for WINNERS!  Her hand is one way...I think that's a bad gesture in some foreign country, Tressa!...and mine is the other but really we were showing a "W" for WINNUHS!!!
We have something like 16 people on our team...and only 10 play each week.  You'd think we'd never run out of people.  BUT NOOOOO...12 of our people deserted us today...it is spring break here and there was a mass exodus of my teammates to the beach, Disney...and someone even decided to WORK today! So we were down to 4 regular team members.  But our captain was very creative and industrious and she added some people to play today and we ended up winning 3 of the 5 matches so we TOOK THE DAY!  Very exciting for us.
Here is our captain, Marcie (on the right) and her partner, Vickie.  They also won AND PLAYED IN THE TOP POSITION!  They ROCKED!!!

I don't know why they are holding up empty mugs.  There had been magaritas in those, as well, trust me....  Not only can they win at tennis but they can also drink margaritas for lunch.  We ARE a versatile team!  So many skills....

Fun day with fun ladies!  I just totally heart my team....

Where is MY MOJO?!

I seem to have lost a bit of Mojo.  I wanted to work on some Easter cards but the inspiration I needed never did arrive!  I played around with my Gypsy and Cricut a bit and had a good time cutting, pasting...fiddling with this and that but the end result was not something I want to share here!  The good news is that I saw what I didn't like, you know? So, I guess I can consider that progrees!  Don't have to totally go back to the drawing board, perhaps...but a  little tweaking may be necessary.
I am the world's slowest scrapper or paper crafter.  I literally spent 8 straight hours at a crop once working on one layout.  But it WAS a great layout when it was done!  I fiddle with everything...change things, adjust things, make this bigger, that smaller, etc., etc., etc.! But that whole process is what I love...in most cases the end result is secondary for me.  It's all about the process.  So, I may not produce great quantities of things but I usually enjoy just about every minute it takes me to get one little card done.
So...tonight I spent a few hours and came away with nothing, nada, nichts! Oh well...there is always tomorrow, right?
If you find any mojo laying around....please send some to me!

Totally off topic....my other favorite activity is tennis.  Right now I'm playing on 2 teams.  One plays on Thursday mornings and one plays on Sunday afternoons.   I have a match tomorrow morning and MY KNEE IS SORE!!!! What is up with that?!  I cannot have a sore knee...I have lobs to run down...volleys to get to the net for...a sore knee will just not do!  So, I'm going to head to bed and elevate my leg and hope that tomorrow the mojo will return and the icky feeling in my knee will go find some other place to hang out (and I don't mean on MY body!).

My Favorite Deal of the Day Sites

We all love a good bargain, don't we?  There happen to be a few sites out there in cyberland that offer deals of the day.  Sometimes you can pick up some really great scrapbooking or paper crafting items at a FRACTION of the retail cost.
My favortie site is Crafty Steals...great stuff, reasonable shipping and you get your products lightning fast!
Today these stamps were offered for only $8.99...which was 63% off retail!
But you have to act fast...sometimes the deal sells out very quickly!Inkadinkado Clear Stamps - Birds & Bugs
Which is exactly what happened today...these cute stamps sold out quickly.  Crafty Steals offers new items Sunday through Saturday each week!  Sometimes I think they should be called Deals of the Minute...if you snooze you are likely to LOSE.
Another site I like is Peachy Cheap.  Really cute stuff there, too!  All kinds of scrapbooking and paper crafting items from paper kits to stamps to rub-ons, etc.  Great prices, too.  Peachy Cheap offers new items Monday through Saturday.  If you happen to check in on Sunday it will be the same listing as Saturday...Saturdays item will be offered all day Sunday until it is sold out.

And the last one I check out each day ScrapAce.  Again...great products and reasonably fast shipping.  Like Crafty Steals new items are offered 7 days a week.

I love shopping from my easy chair!   And we all love mail order, don't we? What is it about getting something in the mail??!  It always feels like Christmas to me!

Another Form of Creative Expression

Today was a girlie day...3 of my good friends and I went to one of those pottery painting places to hang out, chat, laugh and, in general, make a huge mess.  I was most impressed with myself...not because I made anything really wonderful...but because I managed to avoid getting paint all over myself!

I chose a ladybug bank and a mug to make.  The mug has T's and D's all over it for David and Taylor (my adorable grandson and for the baby who will be joining our family in just a few short months).  I thought it would be a wonderful piece out of which to drink my morning coffee.

So, I wanted to paint them red...the ladybug and the mug.  Does this look red to you?  But the assistant assured me that when the piece is cooked it will look darker.  I sure hope so.  This pinky mud color will certainly NOT do!

I think painting pottery is definately not my calling...but it was fun I will say.  The best part was spending time with girlie friends.  :)

We pick up our finished fired pieces in 5 days.  Ahhhh...such creativity!
