Another Happy Birthday Card!

My daughter celebrated her birthday this week.  I'm not even going to mention how old she is! It's scary....but I do keep reminding myself I had her when I was 12 so I can't be as old as it must look to others! LOL!

Anyway, I made this card with the Simon Says Stamp Card Kit for June which I adore! It has the really coolest little metal die with it that says "Smile" and is inside a circle.  So very wonderful!  I used it to make a little shaker element.  The stitched circle is also from Simon Says Stamp.

I also love the pretty and cheerful Doodlebug papers.

Project Life: Week 39

I had a few minutes yesterday to finish up Week 39 of my Project Life.  I'm doing well....getting caught  up! LOL! 

Here is the left side:

The week card and the journaling card as well as the enamel dots are all from Doodlebug...I love Doodlebug...such cute stuff for kid pages.  Here's a closer shot of the "week" card:

I used Memory Box dies for "week", the brackets and the "39".  I put a little glossy accent on the little bluebird and some tiny googly eyes on the owl.  I love the googly eyes and I think the little kiddos will like them, too!
The "grandparent" stamp on the bottom right photo of the kids and me is a Unity Stamp.
Here is the right side:

I used a journaling stamp from Unity Stamps and papers from a DCWV stack from my stash.  The burlap and felt stickers were left over from a project from another week and are from Little Yellow Bicycle, I think.
I also did an insert page this week with a 5x7 photo of my grandson, David.   The front side is just simply the photo placed in a 5x7 Becky Higgins page insert.  Isn't he the cutest little boy?

 The back side I used a Becky Higgins 4x6 journaling card and added a little paper and some enamel dots and did a little good bit of journaling!

And that, my friends, means that Week 39 is FINISHED!!!  Woohooo.....which means I can get on to WEEK 40 and the birth of WADE!

It will be a few days, though...I'm back at my daughter's to help out for a few more days so am away from my crafty stuff.  And while I'm here I don't do crafting.  I play Batman and Babies and Dollhouse and Cars and read Curious George and New York Baby for the 116th times.  Life is grand!

Project Life: Week 38

Mish mash, hodge podge, eclectic?  I think you could use any of those words to describe my approach to my Project Life pages for Week 38.  But they are done.  "Eclectic" always has a nice sound to it but often means unmatched to me! LOL!  Oh well...Week 38 is done...on to Week 39!

Week 38 was a big week for us as it was David's 4th birthday on September 21.  His mom who was just a few weeks from giving birth to her 3rd kid wanted to do something low key for his birthday.  She wanted to just get a cake...have some kids to a local park and let them run around and play.  No big deal.  Well, all week long we had the most gorgeous weather....the day before his birthday was gorgeous....the day after was just as lovely but on the 21st we had TORRENTIAL DOWNPOURS!  So at the last minute we were able to move it indoors to one of those indoor playground sorts of places.  It worked out well and the children all had a great time.  And the place cleaned up the mess.  Well worth the $$$!

I used a Doodlebug card for the week card and a card from Simple Stories which doesn't even much match!  Eclectic, remember?  LOL!!!  I also used a photo template from Lily Pad Designs.
On to the right side:

Again we have a mish mash...a Recollections Card and a Simple Stories card....I didn't do much with the pictures this week....just corner rounded.  No big complicated templates or anything like that.
You may not be able to see the bottom left picture well but these are the girls (minus 1) who will be in my son and future daughter in law's wedding next April.  Those are not the dresses they will wear but we did just get a group shot.  They are all such pretty girls!!!
Since it was David's birthday I also did an insert page for this week:

Project Life: Week 29

I met up with some friends at Archiver's on Saturday for a fun day of cropping.  I spent about 4 hours completing these very simple pages.  Why did it take so long?
1. I only got about 2 square feet of space because my cropping mates (especially Kim and Heather) crept into my space with their stuff and I couldn't spread my stuff out.  We call that "crop creep". 
2. And one person (who shall remain nameless...read: KIM!) kept using ALL of my stuff so I never could put my hands on the things I needed.
3. I'm naturally slow when I'm around others because, of course, I must entertain with stories and my yapping does not cease.

JUST KIDDING about #s 1 and 2.....but I'm pretty right on about #3.  LOL!

And Kim, who reads my blog, will know I am just funnin' her.  She is the über talented Basement Stamper....on several design teams...and her blog is HERE if you want to check it out.

I had a great time and we hope to get together again soon.  It is so much fun to create with others around...you feed off their creativity and ideas...it's very empowering!

Anyway, on to my pages...

 I used Doodlebug papers to make my week and journaling cards.
And why does the year 2013 have a piece of paper on it and was re stamped with a Hero Arts set???
Well, because Doodlebug had an error and it said 2103!!!  Glad I noticed it and was able to sort of correct it!  I just used a little stamp to circle the dates this included but now that I look back I think, to make my book consistent, I need to put WEEK 29 on this somewhere. Will do...will do...

 I just made some simple 3x4 insert cards for my journaling and just added a bit of paper and twine to them to "spiff" them up a bit.

The bottom right photo shows the ladies I cropped with on Saturday.  Kim, Heather and Debbie are long time friends but I met Libby Hickson for the first time on Saturday.  She hosts the blog Libby's Little Addiction which you can visit HERE.  She is also a Project Lifer but makes the most fabulous cards, too.  And *gasp* she works out of her home for HERO ARTS....my favorite stamp company of all time!  It was fun spending time with her and we hope to get together again soon!

Again, I just used some papers from the Doodlebug collection to make a few journaling cards.

 And I inked up a wood veneer arrow.

Really....now that I look back these pages shouldn't have taken more than half an hour.  LOL!!!
Oh well...it's the process that I love. I've said that before!!!

Project Life: Week 16...Insert Page

To add to my Week 16 which I posted yesterday I did an 8x10 horizontal insert page a Becky Higgins page protector/insert/pocket page (or whatever you want to call it).  A wonderful insert page for those really special photos.

I have a really special photo here.  It is of our Jessie who is 88.  Here you have a photo of a Great grandmother, a granddaughter and two great grandchildren.  That is pretty special, isn't it?

The picture was taken before I put her age on the journaling block. 

We took several photos and by the end David decided to be a bit silly but this is so his personality so I decided to use this one.  And Taylor, who can be a bit shy, really wanted to sit in Jessie's lap so that was also very special. 

The little tab in the center of the photo near the top is pointing to a photo of my daughter which has been hanging on that wall since she was about 4 years old.  I love that photo of Amanda.

 "Take Note" was cut with my Silhouette Cameo and placed a coordinating button on top.

And again, I cut a butterfly with the Sizzix Embosslit from Stampin' Up.

And that's it for today, my friends!  I love the insert pages....they add a little interest to the two page layouts, I think.

Project Life: Week 16

I had the best time doing my layouts for Week 16.  I found a packet in my stash of some very bright and cheerful Doodlebug papers with a packet of coordinating buttons.  Don't remember buying it...don't remember having it...but now that I have my new paper organizing system that Debbie set up for me...well, I'm finding stuff!

I did quick layouts the last couple of weeks with pre-made journaling cards.  This week I decided to make my own things with the few sheets of paper I had.  I did some stamping , some die cutting with both my Silhouette and Cuttlebug and added a little of this and a little of that! :)

Here is the left side:

The top right is a template from the Lily Pad shop and can be seen HERE.  I love these collage templates and they print out beautifully!
The little filler card below was made with Stampin' Up Embosslits. So cute....they cut and emboss at the same time.  I used some wire I bought a looooooong time ago to wind around the bodies and make little antennas.

I found some letter stickers from Paper Pizazz which are who knows how old but I loved using for my "Week 16".  They look like the label tapes that were so popular a while back.  Again...I used stuff in my stash.  Love that!  I added some Stickles to the butterfly and then put some big rickrack on the bottom of the card.  That was also from my vast stash of ribbons and trims!

The card below was cut with my Silhouette from a design by Michelle Currie that I purchased in the Silhouette Online Store.  Isn't that cut out chevron adorable? 

And I used some of those cute buttons from the Doodlebug pack I had and added a little embroidery floss.  Can't do naked buttons, of course!

Again, the bottom right photo is from a template from the Lily Pad store.

I stamped the camera with an Amy Tangerine stamp from the set "Aspire" and added some Glossy Accents.

And this little journaling card was cut out with  my Cameo, too, and is a design by Lori Whitlock.
The arrow stamp came from the same Amy Tangerine set.

It was all so much fun for me....I just had the best time and it was so satisfying to find things that I had that worked well for me.

I also did an insert page which I will post tomorrow...and then on to Week 17!
