Project Life: Week 45

Oh My Doodness!  OK, that is NOT a typo.  I am impersonating my granddaughter, Taylor, who just does not quite get "good" out.  Everything is "dood".  The other day she came in the house when I was making soup..."Omie, that smells DOOD!" is the first thing she said.  And then once she was behind me in a chair and hugging me and said "Omie, you smell dood!"  So...there you go..."oh my doodness I am behind on my Project Life!"  I did so well all year to fall behind at the last stretch.  I had foot surgery November 5 and then we went on a cruise the first week in December so just have behind, behind, behind....but I'll get it done...I promise....and all will be "dood".  Again.

Ok...I'm a speech therapist and I KNOW that "dood" is not really good at all....but really she's just fronting her back sounds.  The sounds you make in the back of her mouth (i.e. the k/g sounds) Taylor makes at the front of her mouth...t/d).  Lotsa kids do it at her age so I'm not worried....she will get it straightened out.  And if not....I know a decent speech therapist who can help her.  ;)

But mostly, I just love when she says "dood".   Life is way "dood".

Enough of all that doodness. And onto Project Life.

I actually have a few weeks done I forgot to post....here is Week 45. 
I know I used Thickers for the week card but I really don't recall what other papers I used.  So there.

And yes....you can see my ugly deformed foot in the bottom right picture and my foot post surgery.  It's doing great, by the way!

Project Life: Week 40B

40B....that sounds like an apartment number!  Nope, that isn't what that is!  40B refers to the 2 page addendum I did to week 40.  Week 40, of course, was the miracle week that little Wade was born and joined our lives.  (BTW, I thought it was so smart of my daughter to deliver her full term baby on Week 40.   You know...it corresponds with the whole 40 weeks gestation thing.  I just thought that was so clever!)  Anyway, on the day after Wade was born he had several important people to come to meet him in the hospital and so I decided to make a 2 page spread for that.  A simple insert page would not do...I wanted to give this event it's own thing.  Follow that?

So, my camera battery was dying and even though I have 140 plus cameras all my gear including chargers are up at my daughters!  These pictures are not the greatest but if I don't get them posted they never will be!

Here is the left side:

Two very important people who came to the hospital were Wade's brother and sister.  I loved seeing them check him out.  Too sweet and they were both so in love with him from the first moment they laid eyes on him.
I used preprinted cards by either We R Memory Keepers or Me and My Big Ideas (sorry...the packaging was thrown away a long time ago and I just don't remember!) and some Thickers.

I did some very simple journaling and used a lot of pictures but I got everyone in!

Project Life: Week 40

Week 40 was an incredible week for us...and it was all centered around the birth of my grandson, Wade Garrison.  Sure, I did play tennis that week (and won) and the kids had their usual school activities but we were in the waiting game.  Amanda was due on Sunday, October 6 but she had both David and Taylor before her due dates so we knew this little one could come along at any point.

On Friday I offered to keep the kids so that she and Big David (her hubby)  could have one last night out before they went from a family of 4 to a family of 5.  She had told me that would be great but later in the day I got the text that they would come to my house but would probably not do dinner and to "wash your hair".  That was "code" for she was probably in labor....I had told her that when she thought she was in labor that I would need to know so that I could wash my hair!  I didn't want pictures of me with my new grandchild to show me with ratty hair, you know?  LOL!  So instead of saying she was in labor she just told me to wash my hair.  LOL!!!

They arrived here around 5:30, I think and dropped of the two little ones and headed to the hospital.  I took David and Taylor to their other grandparents and headed to the hospital so I could be there with them. 

I arrived at the hospital at about 6:45pm. By that time she was already 5-6cm dilated, I think.  It wasn't long before she was 8-9cms and then time to have the baby.

Amanda has babies quickly.  I knew this time around that I would need to have my camera ready and focused.  Taylor came so quickly that I wanted to tell the Dr. to put her back as I didn't get many pictures.  This time I was a little better prepared! ;)

So my Project Life for Week 40 is pretty much all about the day the little guy joined us (although I did sneak a couple of photos of David in!).

 I purchased these little filler cards which are made by Me and My Big Ideas and worked just fine for me!  Nothing to it except to corner round it and stick it in the album.

 My week card was also done with a Me and My Big Ideas journaling card and some Thickers.

Witnessing a child being born (and not being in labor yourself) is truly a miracle.  Amazing. Overwhelming.  Awe-inspiring.  Sensational. Incredible.  You get the idea. 

I am a lucky Omie.

OK, so this two page spread only goes to Friday but my weeks go to Saturday. I have a lot of photos for Saturday, though, when several people came to the hospital to see the little guy so I am going to do another two page spread for that.  An insert page just would not be enough, you know?  A Week 40 part B, so to speak...

I am off today to spend with a friend or two and meet some new ladies who also have a love of paper crafting.

Project Life: Week 8

Woohoo...Week 8 done!
My grandkids were here visiting last week and, as a result, I took a ton of pictures...so the most difficult or time consuming part for me was figuring out which pictures to use.  I am bound by no rules, I tell myself....I do not have to do a 2 page spread for each week....I can do more if it so behooves me (how many chances do you get to say "behoove"?!).  But it did take me a while to go through my photos and then get them printed in the sizes I want.  More about that later...
Anyway, here we go with pages for (drum roll, please....) WEEK 8 starting with the left side:

I used Thickers and a Memory Box die for my "Week" card.  The papers are from My Mind's Eye On the Boardwalk and Anthologie.  Simple and fast and I loved the beachy colors!

Here is the right side:

Same papers....I did use a little Studio Calico wood word bubble which is just oh so cute and how I felt about that great German restaurant we went to!  JAWOHL!

I also used a little stamp set from KI Memories for the little glasses.  I just made a shadow with the reverse side of the stamp and then stamped the words and cut it out.  I added a bit of Glossy Accents to the lenses.  To make them look real.  Yeah, right! LOL!

Isn't my little puppy cute?  She was all happy because we had just pulled into the park....all kinds of great smells at the park! LOL!

Since I am using Design A from Becky Higgins for my main layouts I have 4 4x6 and 4 3/4 inch slots to fill on each page.  Sometimes I get the photos printed out in wallet sizes.  So, what I've done is I created a template in Photoshop Elements for a 2 photo 4x6 print.  That way I get my two photos at a one photo price....instead of printing each separately and paying for a full photo.  Get it?
My template looks like this (nothing special here):

And I also created a template for a 3 photo 4x6 print like this:

I reuse these again and again!
I even did a 5x7 3 photo template which looks like the one above except it is sized for a 5x7 print.
I just open Photoshop Elements and plop my photos in to the slots and mask out the parts I don't want.  Make sense?  No?  Basically by having the templates which I can reuse I save a good bit of time and maybe a few cents here and there!
I had so many photos from last week that I am also doing an insert page.  My page protectors will be here on Wednesday so will post that page(s) later in the week.
