Gift Wrap

I love one of a kind gift wrap. I don't necessarily love gift wrapping but I do love, occasionally, fixing up a box or bag. I think my boxes and bags are sometimes better than the gifts within! LOL! It's all about the presentation, baby!

My cutie pie hair stylist is getting ready to have her third baby...a boy...next month. She has a set of twin girls who are both as cute as can be and are pretty excited, I imagine, about becoming big sisters!

I bought her a couple of little things and then fiddled until I came up with a cute way to give it to her. She loved it and almost had to be coaxed to open the box! LOL!  She is decorating the nursery in a plane theme so I thought it would be cute to do a package with a little plane on it, too.

Here is what I came up with using a design from PPbN in the Silhouette Online Store:

The clouds are some I made with welded circles and I typed the text with the Pacifico font onto a path to get the curved shape and welded it.....this is a great font for welding!  Isn't that just too cute.
They are not telling anyone what name they've chosen for this precious little boy...but their last name is Jones so I added it. 
And then I made this very simple card with another cut file from the Silhouette Online store designed by Daniela Angelova.

And then a little handmade envelope with my We R Memory Keeper Envelope Punch Board finished it off!

It was loved and shared and this made it all worth while, right?

Darth Vader!

My grandson had his 5th birthday party yesterday at Chuck E. Cheese.  What a great time was had by all!  It was loud, chaotic and hectic...but I guess that added to the fun! LOL!!!

I love to embellish wrapped presents.  I find that kids don't really like ribbon wrapped around boxes because they can't get it off without help so I just love to use plain paper and put some sort of design on it.

I found this little Lego-looking Darth Vader online...pulled the image into my Silhouette software, traced it...sized it to fit my box and cut it out!  The block font is a favorite for cutting out... Aharoni, downloaded free from Dafont.com.

After it was cut out I lightly taped the "negative" or stencil to the box and then used it to line up my pieces for gluing.  The result?  Perfectly placed and straight pieces.  I did the same thing with his name....otherwise I KNOW they'd be all over the place.  As David ripped into his package his parents were horrified that he ripped right through it but I just laughed and said "No worries!  I can easily cut another one out! Anytime!"  I. Love. My. Silhouette.

Hope Your Christmas Was Merry!

We had a wonderful Christmas....hustle, bustle, lots of fun...great food...lots of family...and today I am going to recover!  I am "plumb tuckered out"! Today I will not leave the house and I'm going to go in my craft room and play.  I have decided to participate in Project Life so I want to get some "prep" work done! HAHA!  My friend, the fabulously talented Donna Gibson, was named to Becky Higgins Design Team for Project Life for 2013 and she is going to help keep me motivated.

Just a quick share today of a decorated recycled gift bag.  Someone gave me this plain bag and I cut the mistletoe out with my Silhouette with a free shape from the Silhouette store.

Nothing special here....but it was cuter than the plain gift bag and so easy to do.

We did spend Christmas Eve at my daughter's house and were there when my two grandangels came downstairs to see if Santa had come.  David "gets" the whole Santa thing...Taylor is not quite there yet but next year will, I'm sure!

Precious Baby

One of my very closest friends became a first time grandmother to a precious little baby girl about 2 1/2 weeks ago.  I went over yesterday to meet her for the first time and I also grabbed my camera and took a few pictures of her.  We didn't get the greatest pictures because she was a'wigglin'!  She never would shut her eyes and go to sleep.  I don't think she wanted to miss a thing! LOL!
Here she is...her name is Reese Elisabeth and she came into this world weighing 5lbs 3ozs...a teensy little girl. 

I used my Silhouette to decorate a plain white gift bag...I love doing names for the intended on my baby bags and the mothers seem to love seeing their newborn baby's name on the bags.

The font is Lauren Script (a TTF) and can be downloaded for free HERE. It welds nicely on the Silhouette as you can see.  The ballet slippers are a freebie file from SVGCuts. com.

More Gift Wrap!

I love buying white gift bags and white paper and fixing it up for any gift to be given.  It's not expensive (well, ok, when you figure in the cost of the die cut machine than my gift wrapping is quite pricey! LOL!)....and it certainly is unique and becomes a one of a kind way of presenting a gift.

Oh and just for the heck of it....here's one I took of Taylor who is now 15 months old and fearless!

She loves the slide....no fear at all as I said! And in a quieter moment....

David's Day!

Three years ago today my life changed.  I had a great life...no complaints there...didn't really think it could get better but then my daughter and son in law gave me the greatest gift ever....my grandson, David!  And less than 2 years later they did it again with their baby girl, Taylor.  I am one lucky Omie!

Today David turns 3.  He is wise beyond his years....of course we think he is brilliant! He is all boy, of course....loves anything that has wheels and an engine!  His new areas of interest are spaceships, rockets and astronauts.  So that's what he is getting from Omie today....a Fisher Price shuttle and a few astronauts and aliens!

I made a little card with some designs from the Silhouette store....it's really a very simple card...not too much glitz and finery as he won't care.  He will just love the astronaut, though!

Then I wrapped his gift in some white paper and cut some additional images to spruce up the wrapping a bit.  I cut out his name with the Arial font with my Silhouette.

Gift Bag

Made this Gift Bag to match the little shaped card I made HERE.  I used a plain ol' white bag I bought with a coupon from Joann's, scraps of paper, one sheet of Martha Stewart printed paper, some foam tape and my trusty EXPRESSION 2 and the Creative Memories Stork's Delivery cartridge.  The giraffe was cut at 6 inches....and popped up with some foam tape...added a little ribbon from Michael's, a few gems for the eyes...a little felt rickrack at the bottom ...and voila...instant, but CUTE, gift bag!
